How to Use Apple Pay at Walmart
Though you can’t directly use Apple Pay at Walmart stores, let’s check out some workarounds by which you can use Apple Pay while shopping at Walmart online as well as offline.
If you’re shopping online (through Walmart App)
- Download the Walmart App on your iPhone/iPad and Sign in to your Walmart account or Sign Up to create a new account.
- Go to the Account Tab in the Walmart App and tap on Wallet
- Click on Add New Payment Method
- Under Payment Methods, choose Credit/Debit Card and add your Apple Card details in the following screen
- Voila, you can use your Apple Pay Card while shopping on the Walmart App/website.
If you’re shopping offline (In-store)
By following the above-stated process if you have added your Apple Card to the Walmart app, then you can use it by choosing the self-checkout option. While using the self-checkout :
- You have to open the Walmart app and then tap on Walmart Pay.
- Then, Scan the QR code displayed on the screen and choose your saved Apple Card as the payment method for the transaction.
- Voila, you have successfully paid for your purchase through your Apple card.
While you can use this method to pay using self-checkout but if you want to pay through assisted checkout and want some cashback for your transaction then you can follow these steps :
- Download the Ibotta app & sign-in/up into your account.
- Choose Walmart from the list of stores
- Choose the Apple Pay option at checkout
- Provide the cashier with your generated barcode
- Voila, you have successfully paid through Apple Pay. and earned some cashback too.
Why Walmart doesn’t accept Apple Pay directly?
Despite the popularity and ease of access that Apple Pay can provide to Walmart’s customers, Walmart didn’t go ahead with accepting Apple Pay as Walmart already has Walmart Pay as the payment option which does the same thing as Apple Pay does, and Walmart didn’t want to bear Apple Pay’s convenience charges which adds up to the expenses without adding much of the functionality.
